The Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship is a $5,000 annual award given to students who identify as minorities and are either African American, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific American, or Alaska Native with plans of studying and pursuing a career in the environmental profession.

The Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship Program

The Brown and Caldwell minority scholarship program is geared to promote workforce diversity and bridge the gap between ethnicities in the environmental profession, from environmental engineering to sciences. The disciplines acceptable are Geology, Ecology, Hydrogeology, electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical engineering.

The Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship Program awards the sum of $5,000 to every selected applicant, but what are the criteria and eligibility that apply?

Criteria for the Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship

As an applicant, you must meet the following criteria with no exception before being eligible to be awarded this scholarship:

  1. You must be a legal citizen of the United States or have permanent residence here.
  2. You must be a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
  3. Have a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or 3.75 or higher on a 5.0 scale.
  4. Identify as part of a minority group, such as being an African American, Asian, Hispanic, Alaska Native, or Pacific American.
  5. Declared major in the courses listed in the section above.

Requirements

There are some necessities that bind the Brown and Caldwell Minority Scholarship, and you must meet these requirements.

  1. You are required to provide a resume in your application.
  2. Write a 250-word essay, minimum on “A personal experience that influenced my decision to focus on environmental studies.”
  3. Have two letters of recommendation, with at least one written by a university advisor, professor, or other officials.
  4. An official transcript from your current enrolled school on your academic record.
  5. The scholarship funds must be used to foot university/college bill expenses only, such as tuition and books.

Does Brown and Caldwell’s Minority Scholarship Cover Study abroad?

No, it doesn’t. This scholarship grants $5,000 to students identified as part of the minority groups and applies to accredited colleges and universities in the United States alone, where awardees are a citizen of/reside.
